The audit, tax, and business advisory professionals of our client serve public and private companies across a broad range of industries, as well as high net worth individuals and closely held companies. They are currently seeking a Tax Manager for their Personal Wealth Advisory group in their Edison, NJ office.

Duties include:

•Review Federal, Multi-State Corporate (C&S), Partnership, Individual, Trust, and Estate tax returns

•Federal and State tax audit representation

•Keep current on new federal and state tax matters

•Coordinate with client accounting and tax departments

•Develop tax package data requests, instruct staff on tax adjustments and implementation of tax applications systems

•Review tax returns for accuracy, minimization of tax liability, available tax credits and tax provision

•Respond to client inquiries, Internal Revenue Services, and state and local tax notices

•Develop reasonable time budgets and effectively monitor performance of Seniors and Staff.

•Supervised by Senior Tax Managers or Partners.

•Delegate to, supervise and evaluate Seniors and Staff.

•Effectively manage multiple smaller tax engagements simultaneously as necessary.

•Provide training and motivation to Seniors and Staff.

•Act as a mentor to Seniors and Staff and assist with recruiting and retention.

•Develop positive relationships with client personnel.

•Identify potential opportunities for new and/or extended client services

Required Experience

•Bachelors degree in Accounting, Masters in Tax or equivalent major

•CPA or comparable designation preferred

•5 years minimum experience in a related accounting/tax position

•5 years minimum recent public accounting/tax experience, including 3+ years supervisory experience

The Manager Trusts and Estates is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely review and preparation of all clients’ filing of estate, gift, individual and fiduciary tax returns as well as judicial accountings. ReviewNY/NJ state fiduciary income tax returns along with the decedent’s final individual income tax return. Analyze estate planning documents including wills, codicils and trust instruments to determine the proper treatment of assets and liabilities for tax purposes. Review accounting transactions, disbursements and receipts to principal and income accounts to ensure proper treatment for judicial accountings. Develop post mortem tax-saving strategies for the estate accounts. Research any tax situation that could affect the management of their accounts.

Required Experience:

Minimum 4 to 6 years experience, from either a sophisticated accounting firm trusts and estates practice, or law firm trust and estate accounting group.

JD LLM not necessary, however CPA and/or MST is preferred.

Demonstrated practical experience is a requirement, as is experience with – Form 1041 trust tax return review or heavy preparation, and preparing trust accountings for state court review, and 706 federal estate tax, and inheritance tax, return review or heavy preparation.

The ability to organize complex trust and estate financial data, and communicate a summary thererof.
