Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of valuations for closely held or publicly traded companies with a focus on the alternative investment space
  • Interact with hedge fund, private equity, venture capital, and limited partner investment and finance officers on the valuation of investments
  • Build new and update existing financial models including diverse valuation methods, such as discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparables, transaction comparables, and allocation models
  • Perform analysis on financial and economic data, subject companies, guideline companies, industries and markets, and other types of fund and investment analysis
  • Prepare valuation and other types of reports and presentations
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ and other application and data providers

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business from an accredited college/university
  • A minimum of three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, valuation, financial statement analysis, quantitative analysis, statistical sampling and econometrics, fixed income, and/or capital markets
  • Possess advanced finance, financial modeling, accounting, and analytical abilities
  • Strong work ethic, ability to multitask, presentation, problem solving and organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid research skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment and/or independently

Our Client is looking for highly motivated Private Equity Accountants with outstanding skills in the fund administration arena for their Union County, NJ and New York offices.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain all financial data in the investment database
  • Post all journal entries and prepare monthly trial balance reports
  • Reconcile all cash received from investors and investments
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Calculate capital calls and distributions
  • Allocate income to partners in accordance with terms of partnership agreements
  • Prepare and issue quarterly financial statements, in accordance with US GAAP for each entity
  • Maintain and update investment data (number of shares, location of securities, country of origin)
  • Interact with clients and provide information as needed

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • CPA and/or MBA are strong pluses
  • 2+ years related experience in fund accounting preferably within the Private Equity field
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg, financial reporting and financial products (ie: equities, futures, fixed income)
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent client relationship management skills
  • Prior experience training, delegating tasks, and reviewing work is a plus
