Financial Analyst – Portfolio Valuation (Boston, MA)

Our client is a top rated independent valuation practice seeking an analyst to join their Boston team . This role will primarily perform valuations of various investment securities for hedge funds and other investment companies. Such securities consist of illiquid investments such as bank loans, subordinated debt, and preferred and common equity in privately-held companies, as well as structured products and other unique securities.

Responsibilities:

Conduct research on client, competitors, industry, and capital markets, including market multiples, comparable ratios, and credit spreads.

Gather and document pertinent data obtained through client interaction.

Build, modify and utilize financial models for discounted cash flow, guideline market multiple, market transaction, fixed income and option valuations.

Perform valuation analyses on companies and their securities across a wide range of industries using relevant qualitative information gathered and through the application of proprietary quantitative valuation models.

Assist in preparing formal client reports.

 

Requirements:

Undergraduate BS or BA, or a Graduate MS or MBA degree in Finance. Any coursework in valuation or securities analysis a plus.

Recent Grad – 3 years experience dependent on relevant work experience and education. (3.4 GPA or higher required)

Advanced, working knowledge of Excel and Word.

Strong oral and written communication skills and superior analytical capabilities are essential.

Self starter and ability to master new tasks quickly.

Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and handle dynamic, time-sensitive engagements in a team setting.

Strong work ethic and ability to work flexible hours around critical due dates.

Manager, Financial Due Diligence (Chicago, IL)

Our client is an established business valuation firm and has earned a reputation as a leading provider of business valuation and security analysis, intangible asset and intellectual property appraisal and corporate finance. With offices located throughout the country, they are a full service firm offering a wide range of valuation and corporate finance services to both private and public companies nationwide. The ideal candidate should have concentrated valuation experience and strong experience with valuation of commercial properties.

Responsibilities:
• Manage transaction advisory engagements (buy-side and sell-side). Provide due diligence assistance (financial and business) to companies and private equity investors.
• Oversee direction of client management.
• Manage teams, and third party diligence groups during transaction process.
• Analyze company data to target past and projected operational and financial trends.
• Assess company data for specific reasons of quality of earnings and working capital options. Also review for potential liabilities and risks, which would impact valuation and negotiation of the target company
• Responsible for the design and initial creation of custom transaction advisory reports that are targeted to to key issues such as achievability of management’s budget, normalized earnings, and indebtedness considerations and valuation model input assumptions.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field. CPA is preferred.
• Minimum five to seven years of related work experience. Minimum four years of experience in top ten public accounting firm: accounting, advisory, financial audit, or transaction experience.
• Excellent project management experience that includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing staff, clients, and/or partners towards the successful completion of a project
• Strong current knowledge in one or more of: United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Securities and Exchange Commission financial reporting issues, International Financial Reporting Standards , mergers and acquisitions, or transaction services
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to travel fifty percent annually including potential international travel
