Seeking a Senior Network Engineer to be responsible for the architectural design, planning, and implementation of various networking environments.
Responsibilities:
• Required to perform analytical and technical work in the planning, design, installation and maintenance of the complex, enterprise-wide, data, voice and wireless networks. Create and maintain all technical road maps. Ensure cohesion between the various technologies and engineering projects. The Network Engineer will also ensure that the network architectural designs are consistent with the vision and roadmaps with cross infrastructure and application platforms.
• Ensure that all aspects of the telecommunications infrastructure are architecturally sound. The Network Engineer must be an expert in the internetworking field and have a strong knowledge of Cisco switches, routers and load balancers. A thorough working knowledge of LAN/WAN operations is also required. The Network Engineer will act as a subject matter expert as it relates to networking related technologies used in the COMPANY Network infrastructure, in addition to possessing a broad knowledge of applications and server-related technologies.
• Collaborate and work effectively with other Information Technology teams and resources in delivering required internetworking solutions. The Network Engineer will be required to research existing and emerging technologies that align with business requirements and will need to provide effective solutions based upon extensive professional experience, internal data, industry best practices, knowledge of industry technologies through formal training and self improvement.
• Evaluate the current network architecture and develop action plans to make necessary improvements in line with industry best practices and standards; provide input into the overall technology plan for the organization, ensuring specific technologies integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
• Serve as a 3rd level technical resource to the Network Engineering/Operations teams and will also be required to provide guidance as it relates to Service Outages. They must be able to provide technical expertise to analyze, troubleshoot and react to technical issues. The ability to run data captures/decodes when necessary is a must.
• Creation of status reports, capacity reports, and overall initial trend analysis reports for the enterprise networking environment which will be used by the Operations team to provide daily support. The holder of this position will require that they comply with all established processes and procedures and also make recommendations as it relates to life cycle management of network related equipment in the production network.
Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related field.
• Minimum three years experience in data communications fundamentals, telecommunications, network design, implementation, and support in state of the art data communications networks or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Cisco CCIE, Cisco CCDA or CCDP certification.
• Excellent technical knowledge of VoIP/IP telephony systems, PBXs, voice mail, ACD’s, interactive voice services, call management systems, and telecommunications accounting systems, strong hands on knowledge of SIP, H.323, TCP/IP, FoIP.
• Strong understanding of VoIP, QoS issues and mitigation strategies. Cisco Load balancer or comparative vendor load balancing technologies.
• Experience with Cisco ASR’s, Catalyst 6500 series switches, 2800 series, 3800 series, 2900 series, and 3900 series routers.
• Strong CISCO Routing and Switching/Network Design.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, switching technologies (VLAN’s, STP, RSTP, VTP, 802.1x, VCP), Routing (EIGRP, BGP, redistribution, summarization), IP (subnets, CIDR, NAT, ACL’s, DNS, DHCP, WINS), VoIP, multicast protocols (PIM, IGMP, CGMP), QoS Cisco IOS, general knowledge around NTP, SNMP, Netflow, CEF, Security Protocols, network management packages including CiscoWorks, NetQos, QIP. Technical knowledge of T1, T3, Ethernet, MPLS, CWDM and DWDM.
• CCIE or CCNE certification preferred, but not required.
• Good consultative and communications skills, design skills, analytical ability, judgment, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other Information Technology staff, consultants, and vendors.
• Experience with data center converged networking based on Cisco Nexus 7000/5000/2000 architecture as well as the Nexus 1000v and Vblock.
• Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless deployments, performing site surveys, design tools, heat map generation and hardware configuration
• Knowledge of structured cable system design and implementations
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedural manuals.
• On-Call participation in a rotating support schedule may be required.
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Salary: $130,000-$140,000 Plus Bonus
