Portfolio Securities Valuation Roles – Analyst up to Director Level Open (NYC / PA)

Our client is an independent valuation firm with a 30 year track record-a full service appraisal/financial advisory firm that provides expert opinions on the valuations of business, equity and debt securities, intangible assets, and other property as well as providing sophisticated transaction services in the form of fairness opinions and solvency opinions.

These valuation roles will administer independent valuation services for BDC’s, Hedge Funds, LP’s and Private Equity Firms. Role performs necessary valuation, review prospective offering documents, assess current market and financial conditions, advise and prepare reports/documents with direct client contact. The ideal candidate should have concentrated valuation experience with expertise in various valuation methods (income/market approaches, option pricing, waterfall), investment research, financial modeling, financial statement analysis, reporting writing & Fair Value Accounting as well as strong experience with fairness/solvency opinions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial advisory services in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts and public and private financings as well as for financial and tax reporting purposes.
  • Render financial opinions with respect to valuation, fairness and solvency.
  • Perform valuations of businesses, equity and debt securities, loans, derivative instruments, structured products and intangible assets.
  • Perform detailed due diligence including site visitations, management interviews, review of strategic alternatives and legal documentation as well as business, financial, industry, and market research and analysis.
  • Construct and maintain sophisticated, scenario driven financial and valuation models including analysis of financing alternatives, cash flow and IRR analysis, LBO/debt repayment analysis, accretion/dilution analysis, sum-of-the-parts valuation, discounted cash flow valuation, comparable public company valuation, comparable merger and acquisition valuation, loan pricing and derivative pricing.
  • Monitor certain economic, industry, capital market and company trends and developments.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial analyses and reports to directors, senior managers, lenders and shareholders.
  • Interact and coordinate with equity sponsors, investment bankers, accountants and attorneys on a daily basis.
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously with tight-deadlines in an unstructured and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients through periodic conversations and meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business Administration or another related field. CFA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum three to ten years of relevant experience.
  • A broad, in-depth knowledge of Portfolio Investment Valuations
  • Thorough understanding of valuation theory and practice.
  • Ideal candidate has a working background within a Big4 Accounting firm, sell side research OR valuation firm.

Location: Princeton Metro area

Salary: $65,000 – $140,000 with Quarterly Profit Sharing & Year-end Bonus

Responsibilities:
• Identify and calculate value of assets by providing independent and well-supported valuations to clients.
• Perform local, national and international real estate market analysis. Analysis includes public and private entities.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, and assist in business development.
• Mentor and supervise staff.
• Gather data for client contracts via direct communication. Clients include brokers, appraisers, investors, developers and asset managers.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (GAAP, tax and other regulatory areas), so effective communication and guidance may be given to clients for full understanding of the value of their assets and liabilities for financial decision making.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field. Progress toward coursework for a graduate degree preferred.

• Solid understanding of Discounted Cash Flow modeling in both ARGUS and Excel
• Strong background in managing multiple client engagements and client service teams.
