Valuation Manager – Portfolio Investments (NYC / NJ / Philadelphia / Chicago)

Our client is an independent valuation firm with a 30 year track record-a full service appraisal/financial advisory firm that provides expert opinions on the valuations of business, equity and debt securities, intangible assets, and other property as well as providing sophisticated transaction services in the form of fairness opinions and solvency opinions.

The Valuation Manager – Portfolio Investment will administer independent valuation services for BDC’s, Hedge Funds, LP’s and Private Equity Firms, et al, perform necessary valuation, review prospective offering documents, assess current market and financial conditions, advise and prepare reports/documents with direct client contact. The ideal candidate should have concentrated valuation experience with expertise in various valuation methods (income and market approaches, option pricing, waterfall, et al), investment research, financial modeling, financial statement analysis, reporting writing and Fair Value Accounting as well as strong experience with fairness/solvency opinions.

Sample Transaction:
– A solvency opinion for $1.9 Billon recapitalization of one of the world`s top financial advisory and asset management firms

Responsibilities:
§ Providing financial advisory services in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts and public and private financings as well as for financial and tax reporting purposes;
§ Rendering financial opinions with respect to valuation, fairness and solvency;
§ Performing valuations of businesses, equity and debt securities, loans, derivative instruments, structured products and intangible assets;
§ Performing detailed due diligence including site visitations, management interviews, review of strategic alternatives and legal documentation as well as business, financial, industry, and market research and analysis;
§ Constructing and maintaining sophisticated, scenario driven financial and valuation models including analysis of financing alternatives, cash flow and IRR analysis, LBO/debt repayment analysis, accretion/dilution analysis, sum-of-the-parts valuation, discounted cash flow valuation, comparable public company valuation, comparable merger and acquisition valuation, loan pricing and derivative pricing;
§ Continually monitoring certain economic, industry, capital market and company trends and developments;
§ Preparing and presenting detailed financial analyses and reports to directors, senior managers, lenders and shareholders;
§ Interacting and coordinating with equity sponsors, investment bankers, accountants and attorneys on a daily basis;
§ Managing multiple engagements simultaneously with tight-deadlines in an unstructured and entrepreneurial environment;
§ Developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients through periodic conversations and meetings;
§ Conducting business development and support including prospecting for new clients and leads, preparing and presenting marketing materials as well as scoping, pricing and negotiating assignments.

Requirements:
* At least five years of relevant experience.
* Prior Management experience required
* A broad, in-depth knowledge of Portfolio Investment Valuations
* A thorough understanding of valuation theory and practice.
* CFA required

Salary: 140,000 – $180,000 plus Bonus

Our Client, an advisory firm with locations across the U.S is seeking a Sr. Associate / Manager for they Corporate Advisory and Valuation Services team. The position is flexible with a remote option and will cover the Northeast / Mid-Atlantic territory.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead on engagements and interact directly with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the training, development, and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Perform in-depth company, industry, market, economic, and competitor research.
  • Gather data pertinent to the engagement through public and proprietary data research, and direct client interaction.
  • Prepare written communications of both qualitative and quantitative research results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and manipulate financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiples, and market transaction analyses.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or related field, with sufficient accounting course work from an accredited college or university.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience.
  • ASA, CPA, CFA, MBA a plus, but not required.
  • A solid understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications.
  • Prior experience in financial reporting valuation including familiarity with ASC 805, ASC 350 and IRC 409a.
  • Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic with the ability to master new tasks quickly.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
  • Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel.

Accounting Supervisor (Essex County, NJ)

The Accounting Supervisor will lead all aspects of month end closing process in addition managing
accounting staff. Ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the accounting standards, general ledger
and its relationship with the various sub ledgers. They should also demonstrate strong management
skills and ability to organize.

This is a long-term position with potential for growth as the finance and accounting department grows along with this dynamic company.

Responsibilities:
(Duties may include, but not limited to all or some of the following)

  • Lead the month end closing process (including concurrent reconciliations of all accounts)
  • Refine and document all accounting policies and procedures
  •  Preparation and review of monthly/quarterly financial statements
  • Track metrics used as assumption in accounting – reimbursement discounts and bad debt reserves and charges
  • Review and check postings from various modules, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets,
    and expense management to determine accuracy
  • Monthly reconciliations – revenue, A/R, bank, etc.
  • Month end related journal entries
  • Assist special projects as assigned (transition to new accounting system, refining ASC 606 revenue accounting)

Qualifications:
The candidate should have the following requirements as a minimum for the position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field of study and work experience in the accounting field.
  •  7-10 years of relevant work experience, health care industry would be a plus.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically excel) and Quickbooks.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstration of the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be capable of functioning with flexibility in assignments.
