Required Skills

Responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely review and preparation of all clients’ filing of estate, gift, individual and fiduciary tax returns as well as judicial accountings.

ReviewNY/NJ state fiduciary income tax returns along with the decedent’s final individual income tax return.

Analyze estate planning documents including wills, codicils and trust instruments to determine the proper treatment of assets and liabilities for tax purposes.

Review accounting transactions, disbursements and receipts to principal and income accounts to ensure proper treatment for judicial accountings.

Develop post mortem tax-saving strategies for the estate accounts.Research any tax situation that could affect the management of their accounts.

Required Experience

Minimum 4 to 6 years experience, from either a sophisticated accounting firm trusts and estates practice, or law firm trust and estate accounting group.

CPA and/or MST is preferred.

Demonstrated practical experience is a requirement, as is experience with – Form 1041 trust tax return review or heavy preparation, and preparing trust accountings for state court review, and 706 federal estate tax, and inheritance tax, return review or heavy preparation.

The ability to organize complex trust and estate financial data, and communicate a summary thererof.
