Financial Analyst, Energy – Portfolio Valuation (NYC / Philadelphia Metro)

Our client is seeking a Financial Analyst – Energy. The ideal candidate must possess a strong financial modeling background, as well as have an analytical orientation and business development skills. Expertise in the Energy sector is necessary. This position is great for a candidate interested in gaining experience with a variety of investment securities and valuation methodologies, as well a pursuing a CFA designation.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on client, competitors, industry, and capital markets, including market multiples, comparable ratios, and credit spreads.
  • Gather and document pertinent data obtained through client interaction.
  • Build, modify and utilize financial models for discounted cash flow, guideline market multiple, market transaction, fixed income and option valuations.
  • Perform valuation analyses on companies and their securities across a wide range of subsectors within the energy sector, including, but not limited to, oil and gas exploration and production, oil and gas midstream, oil and gas downstream, MLPs, cogeneration, renewable energy, etc., using relevant qualitative information gathered and through the application of proprietary quantitative valuation models.
  • Prepare formal client reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field. Masters degree is required. Coursework in valuation or securities analysis is a plus.
  • 2-5 years of relevant energy-focused work experience. Master Limited Partnerships (MLP) and Exploration & Production (E&P) Market experience is required.
  • Background in credit analysis is preferred.
  • Advanced, working knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and superior analytical capabilities are imperative.
  • Self starter and ability to master new tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and handle dynamic, time-sensitive engagements in a team setting.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work flexible hours around critical due dates.

Manager, Valuation Real Estate Appraisal (Chicago, IL)

Responsibilities:
• Identify and calculate value of assets by providing independent and well-supported valuations to clients.
• Perform local, national and international real estate market analysis. Analysis includes public and private entities.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, and assist in business development.
• Mentor and supervise staff.
• Gather data for client contracts via direct communication. Clients include brokers, appraisers, investors, developers and asset managers.

Qualifications:

Business Valuation Associate/Sr. Associate (NYC)

The Associate/Senior Associate will be involved in many aspects of financial valuation and advisory services to a variety of clientele. Responsibilities include analyzing companies’ historical and projected financial statements, developing traditional financial valuation methodologies (such as discounted cash flow and market comparable analyses), researching industries using Internet or other sources, performing due diligence review, and communicating results through written reports and presentations. The ideal candidate should have concentrated valuation experience and strong experience with fairness/solvency opinions. And specifically with expertise in valuing common stock of operating entities and interests in investment holding entities (including family partnerships and/or hedge funds and PE funds).  Direct current experience in ASC 350/805  (Goodwill Impairment) a must. As well as an advanced, working knowledge of Bloomberg and Excel modeling; FactSet experience a plus. Strong oral and written communication skills and superior analytical capabilities are essential. Must have quant skills and be familiar with financial modeling. A degree in Finance is required. Progress towards an ASA or CFA designation also a plus. A background in accounting coursework is important and relevant to the responsibilities of the position. The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years experience only.
